“This sounds exactly like it came from the early years of Fat Wreck Chords...it really scratches that itch if you're a fan of this era ...Fantastic stuff, and would recommend for a couple spins. ” - Jake Joyce, MRR
“The band mixes fast tempos, melodic hooks, and a youthful energy despite being self-proclaimed middle-aged, old punks. The debut has a melodic grit that is heard in the vocals and songwriting. The lyrics are poignant and deal with everyday life whether it’s about better times in the scene, mistakes made, or dealing with people.” - Jeremiah Duncan, Scene Point Blank
“East End Redemption are happy to be the annoying voice of reason inside your head. “Obey” isn’t just another punk-rock chant against abusive authority. It’s a reminder that this is the norm, and that getting too comfortable is a luxury we cannot have. “How can hell be any worse?” is sung in the chorus, and in this era of strife, one should wonder about it constantly. ” - Alt77
“[Josh] looks like the lead singer from Reel Big Fish took a real bad turn” - PunkRockRadar.com
East end redemption
Nonpioneering punk rock
Born from the early 2020’s COVID boredom, East End Redemption is a self-proclaimed non-pioneering punk rock band from Portland, Maine, USA. The band is made up of four veteran long-time New England punk rockers that have been tearing up the New England Scene since the 1990’s: Josh Malia (The Taxis, Kurt Baker Band, Ghost Runner) on lead vocals and guitars, Scott 'Westie' Webber (A Global Threat, Amaranthus) on drums and vocals, Drew Perez (the Leftovers, The Outsiders P.B.R.) on guitar and vocals, and Joe Bedard (FBI and the Toughguys, The Taxis) on bass guitar.
Their debut album, the long-awaited 'Crashing Down" - a snarling guitar-laden and gang vocal-led sound that slams your ears with a solid mix of 90's skate punk, hardcore punk, and power pop - was released in September, 2025. The album is an 11-song journey that laments the passing of days, friends, and places gone by, shreds the veil of authority, and celebrates armored reptiles.
"Crashing Down" was recorded and produced by Scott Webber at Pig Cat Studios in Portland, Maine, mixed by Will Killingsworth at Dead Air Studios in Massachusetts, and mastered by Jason Livermore at The Blasting Room in Fort Collins, Colorado.
